Hey! I’m Obinna Iwuji, the founder of the Africa Explainer.
I started this site with 2 ideas in mind: to meet people in the diaspora working in different fields to see the diversity of success that can exist for Africans. And the other is to make a better effort to learn more about the continent I claim to come from (I had a trivia night, that was a bit embarrassing for me :D). Despite focusing on Africa though, the content will be useful for anyone trying to redefine what success could mean for them or just interested in hearing about a part of the world that is not always covered in the best way.
People stories. Hear about stories of the African diaspora finding their way in the world. I get advice from people in multiple career fields and countries so hopefully, at least one of your questions gets answered.
Africa from a nerdy perspective. I tend to go down a good number of rabbit holes, so on the site will be several data stories and interactives to make learning about the continent hopefully a curious and interactive experience.
Positive stories. As much as I don’t represent the entire continent, I have this weird annoyance of people who just see Africa as a place of poverty and corruption. There is innovation, there is growth, and considering how far back certain authorities put us back we’re heading in a good direction.
Well, it might be Nigerian inside me, but I believe that competition brings out the true essence of human existence! And it’s also fun watching people get way too into a game.
